I rarely respond to controversial topics, but I can't restrain myself with this one.
Since when does girlpower and women's rights equate to what these people are accusing Girls Inc. of supporting? Also, these accusations are made, as usual, by a man.
Thousands of people are homeless and have lost everything because of Katrina. Thousands of people were homeless before that. Activist groups should worry more about those issues.

I won't be protesting AG. I don't think it's bad to share articles like these (obviously if we do it without hurting other people's feelings), and I never would have been aware of this controversy without info from the board.

I have very strong opinions on this topic and am doing everything possible to restrain myself from sharing those opinions in detail, as getting into a political debate will only make me, and a lot of others, angry and frustrated. I enjoy a good political discussion, but not here. I hope this thread and all others dealing with this subject are deleted or locked.

Fortunes-fool - that is not the accusation to which I was referring. And, as I said before, there are other issues in the US that are much more serious.

I am right there with you, Katie!
